Innovation and Sustainability in Olivares’ Public Lighting

Innovation and Sustainability in Olivares’ Public Lighting

The municipality of Olivares, in Seville, has launched a project to modernize its public lighting and improve energy efficiency in its municipal buildings, a set of actions that will be carried out by SICE. The initiative includes a comprehensive renewal of the lighting infrastructure, replacing conventional technology with state-of-the-art LED solutions that will reduce energy consumption and minimize light pollution. Additionally, measures will be implemented to adapt the installations to current industrial safety and energy efficiency regulations.

To optimize the management of public lighting, the SIDERA Lighting remote management system will be installed. This solution, developed by SICE, allows for remote monitoring and control of the lighting network, adjusting its performance according to the municipality’s needs. The project also includes ornamental lighting for fairs and festive events, as well as the integration of photovoltaic generation systems in municipal buildings, promoting the use of renewable energy sources.

Proyecto ESE de Olivares

The project will be developed under the Energy Services Company (ESCO) model, an approach that enables infrastructure modernization without the public administration assuming the initial investment directly. Under this scheme, the awarded company is responsible for the design, financing, execution, and maintenance of energy efficiency improvements, recovering the investment through the savings generated in energy consumption. This model has become a highly efficient and sustainable solution for municipalities, allowing them to reduce operating costs and contribute to the energy transition.

The benefits of this type of contract include significant energy savings and a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions, as well as the adaptation of lighting to the actual needs of each illuminated roadway. By applying this technology, SICE has achieved energy savings ranging between 50% and 70%, while ensuring compliance with regulatory lighting levels and maintaining the safety of both pedestrians and vehicles on urban roads.

SICE, with extensive experience in managing ESCO projects, has carried out similar initiatives in municipalities such as Coín (Málaga), Madrid, Móstoles, Antequera, Baeza, and Cáceres, among many others, where it has implemented advanced lighting and smart control solutions. Its expertise in this type of contract ensures efficient execution, incorporating innovative technologies that optimize energy consumption and enhance service quality.

With this new initiative in Olivares, the company reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the modernization of urban infrastructure.
