SICE Successfully Delivers New Video Wall for FDOT District Six TMC

SICE is pleased to announce the successful completion of the video wall replacement at the FDOT District Six Traffic Management Center. This was an extremely challenging Design-Build project, which required the removal of the existing rear projection type wall monitors with new state of the art high resolution LED monitors. The scope of work included the design of all disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Protection), the demolition of the existing monitor support structure, installation of a new partition wall, including all electrical, and low voltage cabling, installation and testing of the new monitor, and new operator consoles. All while not interfering or disrupting the active TMC operations and completing all construction activities within 35 calendar days.

This video wall plays a pivotal role in the operation of the Traffic Management Center which monitors and manages some of the the highest volumes of traffic in the state of Florida, and  houses the TSM&O program staff and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Traffic operators monitor the roadways and optimize traffic conditions in real-time. They work with partner agencies to provide incident management, traveler information, and arterial management services to the area. This coordination is enhanced by the co-location of Greater Miami Expressway Agency (GMX) operations staff and Florida Highway Patrol Troop ‘E’ dispatch who also work within the TMC to manage their respective operations.
