Winners of the 2nd Edition of the “SICE Chair” Awards for the Best Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses in Engineering Applied to Infrastructure Management

On July 12, 2024, at the School of Engineering and Architecture (EINA) in Zaragoza, the award ceremony for the 2nd edition of the “SICE Chair” Awards was held. These awards recognize academic excellence in Bachelor’s Theses (TFG) and Master’s Theses (TFM) focused on engineering applied to infrastructure management.

In this edition, the award for the Best Bachelor’s Thesis was granted to Marcos Adán Laguna, a student of the Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering, for his project titled “Study and Design of a Neural Network Model for Predicting Battery Status in Multiple Isolated Photovoltaic Installations.”

On the other hand, the award for the Best Master’s Thesis was received by Álvaro Cabeza Millán, from the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, for his work “Transformer-Based Model for Time Series Prediction in Photovoltaic Energy Storage Systems.”

The awards were presented by Juan Beltrán, SICE’s Business Development Director, and Javier Iturrizaga, SICE’s Delegate in Aragón. The ceremony was attended by members of the SICE Chair and representatives from the EINA Zaragoza management.

The level of the candidates presented was notably high, showcasing the talent and innovative capacity of the future engineers.

Each academic year, the SICE Chair offers scholarships for internships at SICE or for final year projects, primarily aimed at students of computer engineering, telecommunications, electronics and automation, and industrial technologies. The projects should focus on innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, information and communication technologies, and electronics, among others, applied or with potential application in infrastructure management (smart urban mobility and services, traffic, tunnels, tolls, water management, environment, renewable energies, telecommunications, etc.).

The SICE Chair – Innovative Technologies Applied to Infrastructure Management aims to promote research and study in key areas for the progress and sustainability of our cities and urban environments.

The SICE Chair Awards represent a recognition of the talent and innovation of future engineers, as well as an incentive to continue driving technological development in the field of infrastructure management, thus contributing to the progress and sustainability of our cities and urban environments.
