SICE will renew 64 radio links of the existing network, which supports, among other essential services, the transmission of hydrometeorological information from different points of the Basin to the SAIH Ebro.
The project involves a comprehensive modernization thanks to the improvement of the existing network, the increase of its capacity and the technological renovation.
The Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Miteco), with funds from the European Union – Next Generation, is completing the “Renewal Project of the Main Rings of the Primary Communications Network of the Automatic Hydrological Information Network SAIH Ebro”.
The communications system consists of a Primary Network, basically structured as a meshed network of radio links, which support the various voice and data services that allow remote monitoring and management, from the River Basin Processing Center (CPC), of the hydraulic infrastructures of the entire Ebro river basin, including dams, irrigation canals, river gauging, water quality measurement stations, etc.
The main objective of the project, awarded to the company SICE, is the integral modernization of the communications network through the installation of sixty-four radio links. These links will connect existing repeater stations, replacing the current ones whose maintenance and operation present difficulties due to their obsolescence.
The purpose of this action is to increase the network capacity, responding to the bandwidth needs; and to renew the equipment technologically to guarantee its maintenance at the required service levels.
This project, part of the improvement of the Ebro River Basin Authority’s communications network, will result in better water and infrastructure management.
The project has the financial backing of the European Union Next Generation, with an investment of 1,366,042 euros.
